About Christian Counseling
Christian Counseling means different things depending on who you ask. To understand the differences you’ll need to understand the variety of practices.
1. Prayerful Christian Counseling. Prayerful Christian Counseling involves trained professional counsellors who are willing to pray within a counseling session. I provide that in my Christian counselling sessions.
2. Faith-based Counselling. Faith-based Counselling involves a registered and trained Christian professional with a background of religious values and life-style who provides professional counselling with these values and perspectives in the background. People choose this to avoid be subject to religious misunderstanding and secular guidance. I provide faith-based counseling.
3. Christian Counselling. Christian Counselling with no prayer or faith-based perspective. Some Christian professional are Christians in name and church attendance but are secular in methods and perspective. Ask your potential counsellor if they often include prayer in the healing process or is their methodology the same as any secular counselor or psychotherapist. I do not fit in this category.
4. Biblical Counselling. Biblical counselling if often requested from those from an evangelical or fundamentalist background. Their assumption is the Bible has all the answers and that the counsellor provides answers from the Bible. I do not fit this category. One reason; I do not see my role as giving people answers for their life. I am a therapist who sees my role as bringing healing to root issues.
1. Is Christian Counseling/Therapy Right for Me?
If you are interested in treatment for a mental health issue, and you’d appreciate speaking with someone who has a Biblical perspective, is clinically trained to use best practices to help you toward mental, emotional and spiritual wholeness then Christian counselling might be right for you.
You don’t necessarily need to share the same faith, but you do want to work with someone with a godly perspective, who knows Biblical truth and loves Jesus and is willing to listen to you. You prefer that over working with someone who describes themselves as an atheist.
2. Is Christian Counselling/Therapy/Psychotherapy Really Effective?
Yes. Christian counselors have the same education and experience as other mental health professionals, their treatment is equally effective, plus they acknowledge the place of God in healing our lives.
3. How much does Christian Counselling Sessions with George Cost?
George comes to you with a master degree in Clinical Psychology, 40 years clinical experience and advanced training is evidence-based skills and as a registered psychotherapist. His fee is $150 per hour (Canadian).
4. Do you deal with trauma and PTSD? (Christian stress and trauma processing)
I recently completed training as an EMDR therapist so as to include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to my practice of Christian therapy. I observed that there is good synergy between my Listening Prayer Therapy approach and EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is highly acclaimed in dealing with PTSD.
5. On Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Work
The Biblical view of marriage emphasizes bonding and attachment which is the focus of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy Work. I love this focus in on couple unity and I find most couple love it too.

Testimonies from my Mission to Scotland
I visited Scotland to teach and minister. Here is the feedback.
Testimonies about Listening Prayer Therapy from teaching mission to Scotland - land of the free. The tools of my Listening Prayer Therapy provide breakthroughs to emotional freedom and lead to Life Transformation - the gaining of a one's identity in Christ. The following testimonies are used with permission.
George has brought to life in me the freedom I experienced at salvation, but have lost over the years - freedom to be me, to dare to trust God, to feature (be a partner) in this relationship with God prominently, to experience heaven here. I have experienced an awakening and a realization that we are always being reborn. Its not a one of. Hallelujah!
Liz of Saltcoats, Scotland
I am grateful for learning a practical, tangible way of getting in touch with God and hearing from Him. God does speak and does change your life.
Claire, Saltcoats, Scotland.
Discovering how to get God's Word from your head to your heart, in a few easy steps of praying and listening to God, was great. And is something I will do with any other experience that keeps me bound.
Jesus is the key, but, now, I have been shown how to use it; and open the door to my life, which I had kept well locked up under lock and key.
Thanks,
Katie :-) Stevenston, Scotland
Its been so encouraging watching Jesus transform lives through your prayer ministry. Its been so well received within the congregation and brought healing and freedom. I can also testify to it. Enjoyed having you. Come again soon.
Helen, Stevenston, Scotland.
Thank you for the way you pray and teach.
Mairi from Scotland.
George's visit has resulted in a breakthrough in who I am in Christ and where I am heading. The classes have been very beneficial and I would recommend it to anyone. May the Lord keep working in and with George. God bless,
Matthew, Saltcoats, Scotland.
Meeting George, and experiencing his Listening Prayer Therapy, has brought healing and balance to my inner life, my relationship with Jesus and my perception of who I am.
Your healing ministry has touched us all and many lives will never be the same. I can only say "Thank you Lord, and come back soon, George."
