Christian Counselling and Psychotherapy

About Christian Counseling

Clients can't check their values and deeply-held religious beliefs at the door to their therapist's office. Nor should they be subject to disrespect or abuse because of their beliefs. Nor should they be subject to moral and life direction from a secular practitioner who is poor with boundaries.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is effective in large part because it focuses on out deeply-held beliefs - the core beliefs that are the driving force behind our painful feelings, bad habits and self-sabotaging patterns. Our core beliefs are central to who we are.  Effective therapy changes unhealthy and irrational beliefs to healthier and rational beliefs.

Christian Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is the same process enhanced by the truths of religious texts and the truths received in prayer and meditation carried out in a way that does not undermine one's religious beliefs and worldview. instead it allows religious clients use their faith as a healing resource in psychotherapy.

In my Christian psychotherapy practice I use Christian Cognitive Therapy and it is a very effective method of healing deep beliefs and does so with speed and permanence. I am also a Christian therapist with whom clients can discuss religion and spirituality without me attempting to shape their values or life decisions.

FOCUS ON CORE BELIEFS
All three practices have in common discovering Core Beliefs in whatever issue you want to deal with and using an approach focused on those Core Beliefs. This is an excellent start.

Focus on Active Memories
Listening prayer therapy and EMDR locates memories in which both the belief and the feeling are active which defines them as Active Memories. CBT fails to focus on Active Memories which undermines the permanence of changes.

Confront the Core Belief
1.
CBT uses mental repetition of an identified better belief to correct the identified core belief - a cognitive approach.
2. EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation and free association to discover a response that reduces the negative Core Belief.
3. Listening Prayer Therapy brings the active memory and Core Belief to God to listen for God's truth. This method is the fastest so more is accomplished at more sessions.

Results
Listening Prayer therapy and EMDR align with the research on changing emotional learning so we expect and find stable long-term change. The Christian CBT when it focuses on an active memory iand makes use of listening for God's truth will also produce long-term results.

In conclusion, prayerful Christian therapy can be one of the best, most effective and advanced models of healing to correct core beliefs and, therefore, transform your life.

Testimonies from my Mission to Scotland

I visited Scotland to teach and minister. Here is the feedback.

Testimonies about Listening Prayer Therapy from teaching mission to Scotland - land of the free. The tools of my Listening Prayer Therapy provide breakthroughs to emotional freedom and lead to Life Transformation - the gaining of a one's identity in Christ. The following testimonies are used with permission.

George has brought to life in me the freedom I experienced at salvation, but have lost over the years - freedom to be me, to dare to trust God, to feature (be a partner) in this relationship with God prominently, to experience heaven here.  I have experienced an awakening and a realization that we are always being reborn. Its not a one of.  Hallelujah!
Liz of Saltcoats, Scotland

I am grateful for learning a practical, tangible way of getting in touch with God and hearing from Him. God does speak and does change your life.
Claire, Saltcoats, Scotland.

Discovering how to get God's Word from your head to your heart, in a few easy steps of praying and listening to God, was great. And is something I will do with any other experience that keeps me bound.
Jesus is the key, but, now, I have been shown how to use it; and open the door to my life, which I had kept well locked up under lock and key.
Thanks,
Katie :-) Stevenston, Scotland

Its been so encouraging watching Jesus transform lives through your prayer ministry. Its been so well received within the congregation and brought healing and freedom. I can also testify to it. Enjoyed having you. Come again soon.
Helen, Stevenston, Scotland.

Thank you for the way you pray and teach.
Mairi from Scotland.

George's visit has resulted in a breakthrough in who I am in Christ and where I am heading. The classes have been very beneficial and I would recommend it to anyone. May the Lord keep working in and with George. God bless,
Matthew, Saltcoats, Scotland.

Meeting George, and experiencing his Listening Prayer Therapy, has brought healing and balance to my inner life, my relationship with Jesus and my perception of who I am.
Your healing ministry has touched us all and many lives will never be the same. I can only say "Thank you Lord, and come back soon, George."
